Biography

Brenda is a Learning Designer with the Centre of Teaching, Learning and Scholarship (CTLS).  

As a Social Worker, Brenda is passionate about social justice, equity and working towards positive change. She applied her passion to teaching in the Social Work program from the time she joined Red Deer Polytechnic in 2003, using creativity and innovation in the classroom to promote student engagement and connection of theory with practice.  

The transition to the role of Learning Designer enabled Brenda to further develop her passion for teaching practices, curriculum development and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). Currently pursuing Ph.D. studies in Social Work, Brenda is interested in the journey from diploma to practice involving social justice pursuits, and how this informs curriculum, teaching and learning.
