Health and Wellness Promotion
Employee Wellness Working Group
The purpose of Red Deer Polytechnic’s Employee Wellness Working Group is to incorporate the seven dimensions of wellness (social, emotional, spiritual, environmental, occupational, intellectual and physical) into the daily culture of Red Deer Polytechnic faculty and staff through regular activities, events and initiatives. Our goal is to provide and advertise free or inexpensive services on a monthly basis. We would like to call upon the wealth of knowledge, creativity and enthusiasm that exists within our dynamic population of faculty and staff.
Please complete our Employee Wellness Proposal Form if you have an idea to share with the Wellness Working Group, or if you would like to offer your services for an event.

Guided Mindfulness Meditation
Mindfulness has become a trending topic in the last several years. Research shows that incorporating mindfulness into the workplace helps to reduce stress and anxiety and improve performance and overall job satisfaction. The Employee Wellness Working Group encourages employees to participate in mindfulness practice, and are happy to provide the following videos to help you get started:
Awareness of Breath Meditation
Fitness
We have many options to keep you active! Grab your gym bag and racket and head over to the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre for a visit to the Fitness Centre, equipped with brand new fitness equipment, weights and squash courts. Try to beat your personal best with a run on the 100 m or 200 m track. Rally on the soccer fields, practice your slap shot in the arena, perfect your slam dunk in the performance gymnasium and push yourself in the training labs – all without leaving main campus. For some fun recreational activities, sign up for intramurals or personal fitness classes.
Serenity Zone
A room dedicated to meditation, quiet reflection, or prayer for our students, staff and faculty.
Open 8:30 am – 4:30 pm in Room 2400
During evenings, weekends and holidays, you may request a key from the main Security Desk (picture ID required).
Campus Connections
The Campus Connections Program is focused on mental health promotion and education. It aims to build a strong and supportive campus community by providing participants with the skills and knowledge to help individuals who are experiencing mental health challenges or others who may be in crisis. The intent of this program is to provide support for students and foster connected-ness at Red Deer Polytechnic.
