Christopher McCloskey

Instructor

Biography

Christopher McCloskey was born and raised on the West Coast just outside of Vancouver and decided to come to Alberta where it is possible to raise a family on one income. He ended up in Red Deer and started at RDP in November 2005 and took over halfway through an intake that was being taught by a Plumbing Instructor. When the students asked if he was a Journeyman sprinkler fitter and when he responded yes, was immediately surrounded by 16 sprinkler fitters in a group hug. He knew right then he had found his perfect job.

Chris married an Italian senorita who he met in Mexico while on vacation and it is now 20 years later with two beautiful daughters. He is a sensei for junior Judoka at Red Deer Judo club, teaching the juniors 12 and under only because he can kick all their butts, in reality, he is a throwing dummy for them. Chris is a 4th-degree Knight of Columbus for the Catholic church and is following in his grandfather and father's steps in giving back to those who have less. Chris has helped bring and maintain the Fire Sprinkler Fitters competition in Canada Skills Alberta since our acceptance in 2016. Now his focus after 10 years of running the Red Deer Polytechnic Children's Christmas party, is doing side-side burn demonstrations every October to educate the masses on how fast fire really is and ways to prevent and protect what we value most.
