Biography

Cassandra graduated from the University of British Columbia Okanagan’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in 2016. Upon completion of her program, she began her career at Kelowna General Hospital working in the neurology/stoke, gastrointestinal and detox unit. 

She transitioned to the plastics, thoracic and urology surgical unit in 2017 where she discovered an interest in providing post-operative care. In 2018, Cassandra began working at Red Deer Regional Hospital in the short-stay surgical unit. 

She transitioned to nursing education with Red Deer Polytechnic in 2021 and found her passion. Cassandra has been a Practical Nurse Diploma since this time.

Cassandra has completed courses in Indigenous history and healthcare in Canada with the University of Alberta and the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta. She is currently enrolled in the Clinical Instructor Certification course through the Canadian Nurse Educators Institute. 

As an instructor, Cassandra values a supportive and positive environment as well as linking theory concepts to real-life situations. She integrates current best practice principles as well as her clinical experience to facilitate student learning.
