Biography

Brent is an educator with over 35 years of experience in teaching young adolescents and pre-service teachers of young adolescents. He has taught primarily middle school and high school students in social studies and language arts in Alberta. At the post-secondary level, Brent has taught 1st and 2nd year university transfer education students at Red Deer Polytechnic and he has also taught 3rd and 4th year education students for the University of Alberta's Collaborative Degree in Middle Years Education Program in areas such as Active & Interactive Curriculum and Integrated Curriculum. 

Galloway has also provided leadership as the Coordinator of the program as well as being the Chairperson of the Teacher Education Department. He has also taught for City University in Seattle in their Masters of Educational Leadership Program in a course called "Instructional Leadership in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment". 

Brent has recently completed his Ph.D. with the University of Alberta Elementary Education Department where he focused on how students experienced learning in an experiential real-world learning program called "MicroSociety". His research concluded that these students felt engaged and empowered within this real-world community of practice.
